Sorting kit thread is...

Annoying!
You get a bunch of threads and they're all 1 of this colour and 1 of this colour and the colours are 4 shades of grey and 5 shades of green and 3 shades of brown plus 2 shades of off-white. They have handy names like light beaver grey, ecru, fern green, mahogany.
I think I got it right. If I didn't hopefully it looks like I did.
I had to hold off posting this update until I was sure it wasn't linked to google+ since it's going to be a present.

Well, Hip Hip Bloody Hurray!

They're finished! Now I just have to work out how to display them so they're one article for the show.
Had to change glues since the first one I used that promised not to soak into the fabric did not keep its promise.

Last one done

Next, to do the finishing so they can be hung on the tree.

Gah! I keep missing the mark on the gold couching on the ribbon so I'm calling it quits for tonight.

Break time

Started on the detail work. Hands and eyes getting tired and the kids have kindly donated their colds to my cause.

Can't remember

The name of the show. Headless horseman, icabod crane, Abby mills. Oooo scary!
And I need to work out how to stop the stupid blog making a second copy of the image when I've sent it to the blog folder on the in from my phone. Also, need to work out how to change the default size of the picture

Day time stitching is the best, can see! The family watched the titled movie while I mostly listened.

Last one

I decided this will be the last Mother's Day stitching I do since I have a billiontyone other projects waiting.

Wednesday 21 August 2013

oops

Another late night. Started the evening with relaxing music while hubbie read, then he deserted me to bathe so put bones and castle on and next thing you know all the time is way gone.

Sunday

It's been a little while. Watching a bit about Fleetwood Mac... Happy, happy.

(PS: I was just looking back at previous posts. It's taken me a year to get this far.)

It Can Be Done!

Today I stitched a bit while the kids watched Cats and Dogs 2. Mind you I did have the little one leaning on me and trying to "help". I had to stop mid thread since Hubby came home from work.

Eurovision! SBS style.

I taped the semi-finals and have been stitching away while watching the glorious thing that is Eurovision with the witty repartee of Julia and Sam.
My plan to do one colour at a time didn't work out for these skinny bits I'm doing down the bottom...

Friday 17 May 2013

After this, I have a plan

So this gigantic humongous tapestry that I got because Hubby thought it would be nice to have something like that on the wall (note to self: never let him choose my projects again) I've decided that I'm going to tackle a different colour each session. That way I might actually feel like I'm making progress. It never looks like much when I compare photos.

Not the usual

I read Epbot and she recently talked about how her mother-in-law doesn't read the gumph the card maker prints and skips that in favour of what the giver has written. So she created a card front and said if we wanted we could use it and do tell how it goes down. I'll find out that last bit tomorrow.
Here's the card making I did for my and hubby's mum.

I've decided I quite enjoy making cards. I might have to expand my collection of papers to include other bits to bling up some various occasion cards.

Keeping on

Started a third bookmark for next years mothers day stall at school.

Saturday 4 May 2013

The big one

Put a bit of time into the big project today. Kids were kidnapped by Grandmother so had some uninterrupted time.

Tuesday 23 April 2013

I'll MAKE it work!

Watched a bit of "The Voice" while I whipped up another one. Added a bit to the first one as well. To try and make it a bit more seasonal. Edited them to be pretty on the picture taking device before I sent them to the internet.

Monday 22 April 2013

Gah! Why!?

I finally get around to getting back into it and quckly (as far a a stitching project goes) bang out a bookmark and I want to pretty up the photo for my crowd of followers and the technology fails me!

Curse You, Facebook!

Suck a time sink. Stupid games. Stupid checking if "friends" have done/said anything. Stupid. I Quit!
Oh fine! Now I can't put the bloody photo in! I check it tomorrow.
Edited 22/mar/2013: Ok so it's quite a few days later and picasa are sucky. they've made life difficult. i can still upload photos but it's clumsy now. So with no further delay, the picture:

Cat Door Stop

My youngest son loves animals. So when I decided to bite the bullet and make a door stop already so I don't have to use random crap to hold the door open we decided on a cat. I googled cat images. Cats are kinda lumpy bumpy and I really wanted to use a Milo tin to hold the dirt for weight. Not very lumpy bumpy. One of the images led me to Wee Folk Art where they had a stylistic cylindrical cat. So I used that as a jumping point.
I used suede type material coz it feels kinda furry without being too furry. Felt on the bottom coz it'll be a bit harder wearing (I hope). Wadding around the tin (so it's not so hard) covered by the material with polyfilling in the head cavity. Machine stitched the lines with thick thread on top normal thread on the bottom. Hand stitched the nose with embroidery thread.  I forgot to put the whiskers on. I was going to use fine fishing line knotted with a bead on the inside so they'd stick out like real whiskers but I got ahead of myself and only remembered after I'd finished sewing the bottom on... that's a lot to undo. I've got plenty of materials to make more... I just need to drink more Milo :P

Progress

Husband has become fascinated with Derren Brown. I hope he doesn't use his powers for evil.

Modern Technology

I thought computers were supposed to make things easier.
Image this imagine the other way up and cropped a little.
Oh Look! You don't have to imagine because it actually did what I asked it just didn't show me it did what I asked... Good Grief Charlie Brown!

Back into the Fray

It's been a while. I didn't achieve my goal of having the ornaments done by Christmas... but there's always next Christmas!
